Artistic Director:  Madame Rio Cordy Barlow has trained and danced professionally with the Juilliard School in New York,  under the instruction of George Balanchine, The Miami Ballet,  The Alabama Ballet and Coastal Ballet Academy.  She received her training through the Royal Academy of Dance in London, England. She also trained in the Russian, Vaganova ballet technique.  Madame Barlow has groomed many students who have become professional dancers, ballet teachers, Olympic particpants and contestants in professional beauty pagents. She has had two Silver medalists at the International Ballet Competition, held in Jackson, Mississippi. During her career with the Miami Ballet, she was soloist for Walt Disney Enterprises, Orlando, Florida. Madame Barlow was instructor, Ballet Mistress and Event Coordinator at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) in Birmingham, Alabama and ran two schools while in Birmingham.

After moving to South Baldwin County, Rio opened the Gulf Coast Ballet in Orange Beach. She sold the school in order to continue her education and opened the Coastal Ballet Academy in Foley in 2009. She has recently ended a three year term managing the Performance Stage for the Orange Beach Arts Festival.  She continues to volunteer time towards community outreach such as the Literacy Council of South Baldwin, and the South Baldwin Theatre in Gulf Shores.  Her passion is to bring the appreciation of fine Arts to South Baldwin County citizens and their children via the ballet academy.
